Data File Structure

CASAS formatted data provides flexibility of use. There is no black box and yet it is user friendly. The user is in control.

There are two file structures for the data used in CASAS. They are:

Vertical Files: A spreadsheet file with a single column of data containing all the Census data from the Basic Community Profile for one area. For 2006, this is over 7000 items of data.

Combined Files: Used as input for the COMPARE or REGION functions of CASAS, where data is needed for two or three census. Combined files can be created by the user within the AGGRAGATE programs or by us.
